Dear Members of Red Rock Hounds and Big Sky Hounds.

A wonderful thing has happened to both hunts during the Tejon weekend.  Both packs have qualified hounds, to send to the National Championship on March 26-27 in Hoffman, NC. This is the first time in our history that we are in a position to go east and represent the West in foxhunting.  Red Rock Hounds qualified 4 hounds and Big Sky Hounds qualified 2 hounds.  Our plan is to combine the 6 hounds travelling together, to share the expenses of travelling.  Angela and Renee will make the trip to North Carolina and show how well the Western Coyote Hound can hunt! This is an opportunity that can't be missed. The only problem with them making the 5,500 mile round trip is the lack of funds.  Neither hunt has budgeted for a trip of this magnitude.  For the last two years most of our fundraisers have had to be cancelled or postponed due to Covid.  So both hunts will need their membership to help sponsor this trip by donations.

The hounds will be leaving March 21st and returning the 3rd.  All donations will be used directly and only for this trip, including fuel, hound feed/care, lodging, registrations, etc.  If you would like to go to the Championship and ride your own horse or one of Angela's,  for a donation of $1650 (plus separate feed/care of $550), you can have a spot on the trailer for your horse or a lease horse (additional $550 feed/care and $500 lease fee). There are only 6 horse slots available, and they’re going quick.

I will be the "collection point" to receive and keep track of your donations. You can donate through this site, or directly to me. I am asking that donations come in as soon as you can so that we can make their Entry to the Championships and reservations that will be needed.  To start things off for this trip Lisa Smith and I have donated $2,000 which is $1,000 to each hunt. Our goal for this trip is $12,000. I hope that this will show the urgency of our quest and inspire each of you to step up and pledge.  

Angela and Renee have worked hard over the past 6 years or more to make the packs they have today.  Renee has often hunted the hounds with only a handful of dedicated and enthusiastic members of Big Sky Hounds.  Sometimes those hunts were below freezing temps in deep snow.  That shows her dedication to keeping Big Sky Hounds alive and well.  I feel that both packs should be rewarded for their hard work and dedication to the Western Coyote Hound.  I hope that you feel that way also.
